Kayak and Canoe

WHERE:: In the Joaquín Costa Reservoir (also called Barasona Lake), only 7 Km from Graus and alongside the road that goes from Barbastro to Benasque. On the reservoir’s shore there is a beach with grass and a one story white house next to it. This location can be reached from the road that comes from Barbastro right after the Olvena canyon and after the bifurcation towards Graus – Benasque; after approximately 600 meters from the last tunnel, next to the reservoir dam.

Kayak and Canoe
In Eseraventura’s flat-water activities beach, at the Joaquín Costa Reservoir, you will be able to rent single or double kayaks and paddles with double blades. From this location you can organize excursions to specific spots such as the old town of Cancer, the Sarrón ravine, and others. This activity allows you to return to the starting point whenever you want. This is an extraordinary and complete sport. With all the equipment needed (life vest, kayak, paddle) you will surely enjoy the beautiful surroundings. The difficulty level is low and the duration of the activity is up to you.

DESCRIPTION single kayak (for one person) or double kayak (for two persons).

Single Kayaks can be used both for flat waters (lakes), and for white waters (rivers). Its main characteristics are that the tips (bow and stern) are slightly tilted above the hull (the middle part of the boat), giving it the possibility to make very fast turns (essential for rivers with difficulty levels above class 2). They are wide boats (approx. 60-65 cm.); characteristic that makes them highly stable. They have a hole called cockpit, where the user sits with the legs inside of the boat. Users need a two-bladed paddle for propulsion, paddling on both sides of the kayak. These boats do not have a rudder to turn, which must be done with the paddle.

Double Kayaks are longer and wider than single ones. It is easier to obtain straight routes with these boats since the bow and stern are slightly lower than in single kayaks, functioning as a rudder. They are completely open boats and the occupants can seat comfortably one behind the other. Each person uses a two-bladed paddle, and it must be done in a coordinated manner (that is making the same movements).
